CORRIGAN, TX (KTRE) -

Following a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 59, Corrigan police officers arrested a 32-year-Lufkin for possession of marijuana on Wednesday.

Jonathan Craven was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. According to a spokesman for the Polk County Jail, he has not been booked in to the jail at this time.

Officer Jacob Hopper, a spokesman for the Corrigan Police Department, said the traffic stop occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday. They pulled over a white 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Craven for a broken tail light.

Because they suspected Craven might have contraband in his vehicle, they did a walk-around of the vehicle with CPD canine officer, Leigh. After Leigh alerted on the presence of drugs, the officers conducted a probable cause search on Craven's Trailblazer.

The officers allegedly found a large plastic bag filled with marijuana hidden in the rear cargo compartment of the vehicle.
