Lufkin PD: Burglar steals woman's panties from home on Chestnut Drive

Posted: Updated:
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A family that lives on South Chestnut Drive could be the latest victim of the so-called lingerie looter, a serial burglar with a fetish for women's underwear.

Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said someone made entry to the home on South Chestnut Drive on Tuesday via an unlocked door. He said the suspect or suspects rummaged through drawers in the home, along with some dirty laundry.

"The suspect apparently took some undergarments from the residence," Casper said.

The complainant told the Lufkin Police officer that she and her husband weren't going to report the incident at first. Casper said the husband told his wife to go get a firearm that was kept in the house, so he could help her become more familiar with it.

The couple decided to call the police after they couldn't find the gun. However, the gun was located after the LPD officer arrived on the scene.

Casper did not say whether LPD detectives think this latest burglary is connected to at least 16 other similar burglaries that have occurred in the Diboll-Burke area since 2009. The most previous incident was in December 2013.

In that incident, the suspect or suspects in the other 16 burglaries struck a home on U.S. Highway 59 South in the Burke area during daytime hours. The burglar allegedly took women's panties and an undisclosed amount of cash.

In a previous East Texas News story, Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches said things "could go very bad in a hurry" if the suspect or suspects ever break into a residence when a grownup or child is at home during the day.

In October 2013, the suspect or suspects broke into a home in the Bulah-Diboll area and allegedly stole a 5-year-old girl's underwear. The suspect also took the mother's underwear while in the home.
