POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrested a 24-year-old Livingston woman for allegedly driving drunk with four children under the age of 15 in the car with her Wednesday night.
Megan Renne Albrecht is still being held in the Polk County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15 in the car and a misdemeanor no driver's license charge. Her bail has been set at $5,000 for the DWI with a child charge.
According to a press release, the DPS troopers made a traffic stop on a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup near the intersection of FM 3126 and FM 2457 in Polk County after the driver, who was later identified as Albrecht, allegedly ran a stop sign.
Albrecht allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol on her person and admitted to drinking alcohol. In addition, an open container was allegedly found in her vehicle.
The DPS troopers took Albrecht into custody after she did poorly on field sobriety tests. She was charged with DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the car because she had a 13-year-old girl, a 2-year-old girl, a 2-month-old girl, and a 2-month-old boy in the car with her.
The children were released into the custody of another adult passenger.
Albrecht agreed to give a blood sample, and she was taken to a Livingston hospital, where that sample was obtained, before she was transported to the Polk County Jail.
