CUSHING, TX (KTRE) - Another East Texas athlete is taking their talent to the collegiate level now that Cushing Bearkat Megan Duncan has signed to play college softball.
Duncan has decided she will take her talents to play at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.
It was a packed room as friends, family and Duncan's coaches gathered to celebrate her signing.
Her coach of two years has confidence that Duncan will succeed both on, and off the field playing at the next level.
"I think she's going to excel at the next level. I think given the opportunity to focus directly on softball, and academics with her softball coaches, that she will do great," said Roo Johnson, Cushing's head softball coach. "I also think with her work ethic that she's going to be awesome in whatever she does."
"There were so many people here I was very surprised," said Duncan. "I knew my team was coming, but I didn't know all my family was going to be here too, and that was awesome. I know it's going to be completely different in college. I'm ready for whatever they throw at me. It's a big commitment and I'm just ready for the next chapter in my life."
Last year Duncan was named to the first team all-district.
She says she is expected to play second base at Centenary.
