SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - After Texas Department of Public Safety found an abandoned vehicle that had left the roadway  and hit several culverts in San Augustine County on Saturday, further investigation resulted in a 44-year-old woman getting arrested for driving drunk with a child under the age of 15 in the car.

Tammy Stalinsky, of Crockett, is still being held in the San Augustine County Jail on a third-degree felony charge of DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the car.

According to a press release, DPS troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash on FM 353 in San Augustine County. When they got there, they found a 2006 Ford that had apparently left the road and hit several culverts.

The DPS troopers learned that the driver, who was later identified as Stalinsky, and two children, ages 5 and 3, had been given a ride to a residence in San Augustine.

After the DPS troopers completed their accident investigation, they got word from the San Augustine Police Department that the driver of the vehicle had been located. The San Augustine Police Department transported Stalinsky to a local hospital.

The press release said Stalinsky smelled like alcohol and that it was both on her breath and her person. Stalinsky allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol before the accident. A blood sample was taken and sent off for a toxicology test.

The 5-year-old boy and the 3-year-old girl were released to a family member after hospital staff members checked them out.

Stalinsky was arrested and transported to the San Augustine County Jail.
