Jacksonville police dispatcher killed in car wreck

Posted: Updated:

A dispatcher for the Jacksonville Police Department was killed in a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

Department of Public Safety troopers say around 1:55 p.m., 35-year-old Amber Ann King of Whitehouse was driving a 1968 Ford Mustang southbound on County Road 2177, south of Yarbrough Lane in Whitehouse.

King lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Troopers say it was raining at the time, and that the roads were wet, but they would not confirm whether or not that was the cause of the crash.
