LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

Livingston Police officers arrested a man and a woman Tuesday night after they allegedly tried to pay for a meal at Taco Bell with a counterfeit $20 bill.

James Brian Hartin, 33, and Julie Annette Kawazoe, 39, both of Livingston, are both still being held in the Polk County Both suspects were charged with two third-degree felony charges of forgery of money. Kawazoe was also charged with bond forfeiture, failure to appear, no insurance, and a parole violation.

Hartin's bail was set at $100,000, and no bond amount was available for Kawazoe.

According to a press release from the Livingston Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Walmart store located at 1620 W. Church Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an assault that had already occurred.

While the LPD officers were investigating the assault, they were approached by a Taco Bell employee, who told them two people in a silver-colored Toyota came through the drive-through and attempted pay for their meal with a counterfeit $20 bill.

The Taco Bell employee told the officers that he followed the suspects' vehicle after it left the restaurant and spotted them in the Walmart parking lot.

When the officers approached the vehicle, they determined Kawazoe was the driver of the vehicle. Hartin was a passenger in the car. Further investigation revealed that the same counterfeit $20 bill had been used to purchase McDonalds. Jack in the Box, and Walmart.
