NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Landowners have a lot invested in their property, yet the value isn't always recognized. A seminar on the value of land could be helpful in learning how to generate some income.
You can attend it in Nacogdoches on May 2. The focus is to make landowners aware of water, oil and gas, leasing and estate planning issues.
"How to pass their land on, mineral owners needs and issues related to that," said Ken Awtrey of Pineywoods RC&D. "We're even going to talk about conservation easements and what advantage that might have to folks."
"There's a lot of planning that needs to take place," said Jackie Risner of the Pineywoods "Groundwater Conservation District. "Laws change all the time. People that are maybe going to be the recipients of some properties that might be in their 20s, 30s, or 40s. There are some things they need to know."
Several researchers from Texas A&M University will participate, and an attorney whose specialty is developing a "conservation easement" will speak as well.
Planners are asking you register by April 28th. The seminar itself is May 2 at the Nacogdoches Civic Center.
