LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Barrel racing, steer wrestling and lots of calf roping are on tap for tomorrow's kick off of the 2014 Angelina County Benefit Rodeo.
Tuesday morning, members of Lufkin's Lion's Club held a fish fry to wrap up the last bit of the Ram truck raffle and the 'voice of the rodeo' Mike Mathis says this year is going to be bigger and better than years before.
"It's getting going—getting ready. We've been working awful hard for really the last eleven months putting this together. The last month, the Lion's Club have really been going," Mathis said.
Mathis says this year there is going to be about 600 contestants. The rodeo starts Wednesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. and will last until Saturday, April 26.
