WHARTON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

The driver who struck a car, injuring two Whitehouse ISD students and a teacher, has died.

The Harris County Medical Examiners Office told KLTV that Joan Marie Novak died on Tuesday morning. Novak was flown to a Houston hospital following the wreck.

Investigators said Novak was injured on April 12 when she was driving the wrong way on Highway 59.

Whitehouse students Jacob Smith, Jennifer Aragon, and teacher Holly Mann were on their way back from a youth leadership event when Novak's truck hit their car.

They were also flown to a Houston hospital and doctors expect them all to survive.

Officials said Novak, who was arrested in 2012 for DWI, was required to have a breathalyzer device in her vehicle, and was in violation of her bond the night of the wreck.
