Car Ripped Open In Nacogdoches Accident

Officers say an accident Saturday afternoon in Nacogdoches County was mere inches away from being deadly.

DPS Troopers say 52-year-old David Fountain and his wife were headed towards Nacogdoches on highway seven when they started to turn into the Scenic Overlook. Troopers say Fountain turned in front of a vehicle occupied by 27-year-old Melissa Smith and her 5-year-old son.

The impact tore the back of Fountain's car wide open. No major injuries were reported.

Officers say if it had hit any closer to the front door, it could have been fatal. Fountain was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
