Good afternoon! We hope your day is going well.

Here are some stories for you to read over today:

1. The Rain Co. sheriff says a deputy is on administrative leave after shooting a family's dog when he arrived at their home to investigate a burglary call. The deputy says he felt threatened by the dog outside, so shot him. The sheriff says the department is going to make changes in how it handles these situations in the future.

2. A jury found Jose Diaz Perez, 51 of Jacksonville, guilty of murder on Tuesday, sentencing him to 50 years in prison.
The Cherokee County's District Attorney's office says Perez and the victim, Martha Caselin Ramirez, were dating up until two weeks before her murder, when she left him due to his excessive drinking and his controlling behavior.

3. A Houston family claims a second grader was not allowed to read her Bible during a private reading time in class. Now, school administrators are working to get to the bottom of the story.

4. A deputy with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office was involved in a fatal shooting incident Tuesday night. "I will confirm there was an officer-involved shooting, but anything after that will have to come from the sheriff," said NCSO Deputy David Crisp. "It was a long night."

5.  Our annual farmers market list is now online, so you can find the market nearest you and know when it opens. Can't you just taste the tomatoes, peaches, blackberries and peas? We can't wait. Here's the list for easy access.

6. People come from around the world to visit the Tyler Rose Garden, and now some changes are being proposed and approved. The proposal included creating social areas, complying with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), adding restroom facilities within the garden, adding areas for children, adding a cafe, and converting queens court into an amphitheater for concerts.

7. In case you missed it, we have a brand new page on our website that is focused on East Texas culture: arts, music, festivals, food, people, and more. Here is the link to the new page, called The Loop!

Here's the link to our livestream on KLTV. com if you'd like to watch the news there today at 4, 5 and 6. We're here for you on the web, on television, and on our free mobile app!
