Man robs Nacogdoches Co. liquor store, locks clerks in cooler

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Two Nacogdoches County liquor store employees were robbed Tuesday night when a man forced them into the cooler and made off with an unknown amount of items.

According to Sheriff Jason Bridges, the man walked into Papa Bill's Liquor, located on US 259, near the FM 204 exit, with a handgun and forced the two employees into a cooler, where he locked them in.

"We don't know what happened after that point because the employees were in the cooler," Bridges said.

Bridges said the employees were in the cooler for about 15 minutes, until another customer came into the store and realized they were not at the counter and started looking for them.

Bridges said the suspect is described at being between five-foot-six and five-foot-eight and thin and was wearing a plaid shirt. Bridges said the man had poked holes in the shirt and had it raised over his head so he could see.

Employees were not hurt.

Bridges said he would not release information on what was stolen. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the sheriff's office at 936-560-7794.

"We believed at first that they were possibly related [to the officer-related shooting] but at this time we do not believe that they are," Bridges said. We are still investigating it. we have not ruled that out yet."
