East Texas woman dies after gun accidentally fires

HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) - A Henderson woman died on Monday after a gun accidentally went off at a home in the Brachfield area near Farm to Market Road 1798 and FM 840.

Rusk County Sheriff's Office Sergeant David Roberts said Melinda Orr, 44, dropped a handgun on Monday morning. The gun accidentally discharged, striking Orr in the face.

Orr was airlifted to a Tyler hospital, where she later died.

Orr's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Bar None Cowboy Church.
