Onalaska PD: Mother of 3-year-old boy found walking in street was 'extremely asleep'

ONALASKA, TX (KTRE) - Onalaska Police officers arrested a 23-year-old woman after a citizen driving through the Old Town neighborhood spotted a 3-year-old boy walking in the middle of the street, and the officers found the woman asleep at her home Wednesday morning.

Tera Elizabeth Walker is still being held in the Polk County Jail on four felony charges, abandoning or endangering a child-criminal negligence, abandoning or endangering a child-imminent danger of bodily injury, possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drug-free zone, possession of a controlled substance between 3 and 28 grams in a drug-free zone.

Collectively, Walker's bail was set at $60,000.

Capt. John Maddox said the woman who spotted the 3-year-old boy walking down the middle of the street called 911 because she felt the child was in imminent danger.

Maddox said when Onalaska PD officers went to Walker's house, she was "extremely asleep." The officers also found two Hydrocodone pills and trace evidence of methamphetamine.
