CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) -

After a concerned citizen called 911 to report a break-in at a nearby home on April 25, Crockett Police officers tracked down the suspect a short time later.

A press release stated that Alex Epps, is a suspect in at least 13 other burglaries that have occurred within the past 12 months.

Epps, 22, of Crockett, is still being held in the Houston County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of burglary of a habitation. No information was available on his bail amount.

According to a press release from the Crockett Police Department, CPD officers were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Spring Street on April 25 in reference to a burglary in progress. When they arrived on the scene, they talked to a witness that said he heard windows breaking and then saw man exiting a window from a residence.

The witness, who followed the suspect for a short time, was able to relay good physical and clothing descriptions to the officers, and they made contact with a man who matched the witness' description.

"Both witnesses in this case positively identified Epps as being the subject exiting the residence," the press release stated.
