LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A serious wreck between an 18-wheeler and Pontiac Vibe on Loop 287 and Sayers Street in Lufkin Tuesday night sent two Lufkin women to the hospital.

According to Lufkin Police Sgt. Travis Strickland, two females were taken to the hospital after pulling out in front of an 18-wheeler.

The car was reported traveling across the loop when the 18-wheeler driver from Jasper T-boned the Pontiac on the driver side.

Officers say first responders had to use tools to get the driver out of the vehicle. She was then transported via ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. The passenger was airlifted to ETMC in Tyler, according to Strickland.

Lufkin Police traffic enforcement was on-scene marking the accident.

The names and conditions of the women injured were not immediately available.
