Ten LSUS Pilots make All-Conference team

Shreveport, LA (LSUS Sports Information) -

The 10th ranked LSU Shreveport Pilots had a total 10 different players, the most players of any team in the Red River Athletic Conference, selected to the All-Conference teams that were announced at the banquet to open the 2014 RRAC Baseball Tournament. The banquet was held on the campus of LSU Shreveport in the University Center Ballroom. The Pilots had six First-Team selections, four Second-Team selections, and three on the Gold Glove Team. The All-Conference Awards were voted on by the RRAC baseball coaches.

The First-Team selections from the regular season champions were Connor McMullin (2B), Reed Lavallee (C), Ridge Gonsoulin (OF), Jonathan Burnett (SP), David Diaz (SP), and Jake Hansen (RP). The Second-Team award winners were William Breland (INF), David Dorton (C), Jason Mouton (SP), and Brandon Russell (RP).

McMullin, Gonsoulin, and Dorton represented the Pilots on the All-Conference Gold Glove Team while Mouton was the member of LSUS on the Champions of Character Team.

The Pilots will begin their RRAC Tournament Title defense on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in their first game of this year's tournament against the winner of Wiley College and Texas College, the first game of the day at 11:30 a.m. The second game of the day will match Bacone College versus Jarvis Christian College at 3 p.m.

    PLEASANT GROVE, Texas -- Pleasant Grove's three-star linebacker Xavier Benson announced Monday he has verbally committed to Texas Tech.  The 6'3, 200-pound senior had previously announced he would be making his decision on July 30th. He had received 22 scholarship offers to play football prior to making his decision.
