VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Carlos Ortiz and Jeff Curl are tied at -5 after a wet first round at the South Georgia Classic in Valdosta.

Ortiz, the web.com Tour money leader, played a bogey-free round Thursday, while Curl birdied six in his first 18.

Two-time U.S. Open champs John Daly and Lee Janzen each shot an even first round. The former major winners are tied for 56th.

Albany native Josh Broadaway birdied his first two holes and was -3 after 12 holes.

But two bogeys in the last five holes dropped him to -1, tied for 25th.

Rain pelted the course for most of the day, causing five hours of delays.

Play was eventually suspended due to darkness, ending half of the field's day early.

Round one will resume at 7:45 a.m. Friday.
