The track dryers were hard at work Thursday, trying to battle the rainy conditions.
Despite Mother Nature's objections, the state's best female athletes took the track at Hugh Mills Stadium for the state meet.
Monroe's Jahari Williams and Thomasville's Danisha Jones each kept state titles in south Georgia.
Williams won the AAAA long jump with a leap of 18 feet, two inches.
Jones claimed the AA discus and shotput championships.
Monroe also picked up two state runners-up, both from junior Ashley Harrell.
Harrell took second place in AAAA discus and shotput.
The meet continues Friday with field finals for Classes A, AAAAA, and AAAAAA.
