RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - East Texas authorities are investigating after an abandoned home was burned to the ground Friday.

Five fire departments responded to a fire on an oil lease road near County Road 146 outside of New London around midnight. An abandoned home was burned to the ground and dozens of nearby oil tanks and drums were engulfed in flames.

Flames from the burning oil drums were shooting into the trees around 50-feet into the air before crews were able to douse the flames.

The home had no electricity at the time the fire started. Investigators are working to determine what may have sparked the blaze.
