Lufkin PD: Man assaulted officer who tried to take him into custody

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police officers arrested a 25-year-old man Thursday evening after they went to a verbal disturbance at Silver Creek Apartments, and he allegedly assaulted one of them when they tried to take him into custody.

Joshua Leland Jones is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony charge of assaulting a public servant, a Class A misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance, and two misdemeanor traffic warrants. Collectively, his bail was set at $5,641.90.

According to the police report, the alleged assault occurred at approximately 9:49 p.m. Thursday. Jones allegedly assaulted one of the officers when he or she tried to arrest him. He was arrested and taken to the Angelina County Jail.
