LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Thousands of residents showed up Friday nightwith their walking shoes and it was all for a good cause. The annual Relay for Life even at Lufkin Middle School is expectedto attract almost 5,000 walkers.
The money raised from the event will go backto the local community and help cancer patients and their families. Organizerssay this is one of the biggest yet and it just keeps getting bigger.
"It's great because wework hard throughout the whole year planning and just seeing that more teamsare coming out here every year and more and more people are getting involved,"volunteer Clint Bourlon said. "It really helps us make a difference."
The event will endSaturday morning at 6 a.m. and they accept new walkers throughout the night.
