Two men pulled from flaming wreckage after crash

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix authorities say two men are being treated for burn injuries after being plucked from their burning car after a wreck.

Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said officers suspecting a drunk driver were trying to stop the car early Saturday morning as it drove north on Interstate 17 near Grant Street.

Martos said officers followed the car onto the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 and were behind it when the car crashed in a fireball on the 43rd Avenue exit.

Martos said officers were able to pull two men from the burning wreckage.

The extent of their injuries is not known.

The westbound 43rd Avenue exit from Interstate 10 was closed for the investigation.
