Supporters come out to MS Walk, raise money for research

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A record-breaking attendance of more than 500 people showed up to the Lubbock MS Walk on Saturday to make a powerful statement and keep moving toward a cure for multiple sclerosis.

Walk MS is a signature fundraising event for the National MS Society that raises funds to support MS Research and provide services to individuals impacted by multiple sclerosis - an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system.

Lyndee Groce, the development manager of the West Texas National MS Society, said this event is at the heart of the community, and the enthusiasm displayed by everyone involved shows a shared commitment to the MS movement and those directly impacted by the disease.

"One of the things about MS is that it tends to be very disabling," Groce said, "so we have individuals who are not able to walk, but their family and friends are here supporting them and walking for them if they are not able to."

The money raised through this fundraiser supports life-changing programs and cutting-edge research for MS.

Even though this was just a one-day event, the West Texas MS Society wants to encourage people to continue fundraising for the cause.
