TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
TJC pitcher Daniel Brown knows Yu Darvish's pain all too well. The Mount Vernon native has thrown two one hitters this season.
"Doing it a couple times, you get the hang of what to expect when you get in that situation," said Brown.
The third time was the charm for the East Texan. Brown recently threw his first no-hitter for the Apaches, with 14 strikeouts in 7 innings against North Arkansas.
"It's really cool to see him capture that this last weekend," said TJC head coach Doug Wren. "He's come close and that's such a rare feet in baseball. So many things have to go your way."
Brown wasn't going to be denied the third time around.
"Finally I got to that situation and said 'I'm going to get it this time.'" said Brown. "Once you finally get it, it's a pretty cool experience."
Now the East Texan hopes to finish the season on Tyler's home field. TJC will host the district tournament beginning Friday. If the Apaches win District C, they will advance to the Division III World Series, right back at Mike Carter Field.
"The first year we hosted was with a national championship," said Wren. "We'd love nothing more than to book end that and win another national championship on the way out."
