LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested 38-year-old man for aggravated assault after he allegedly chased his ex-girlfriend's male friend while carrying a machete and then chased the woman around her yard and her vehicle on Monday.
Mario Arias Limon, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. His bail has been set at $10,000.
Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said that the victim was water plants and talking to a male friend in the yard of her home on Montrose Street when Limon showed up carrying a machete. Limon allegedly started chasing the male friend down the street.
When Limon couldn't catch the male friend, he allegedly started chasing his ex-girlfriend around her yard and her vehicle.
Casper said after the woman yelled for help, her daughter looked out to see Limon chasing the victim. Lufkin Police officers arrived on the scene a short time later, and Limon was taken into custody.
Limon and the victim had not been involved in a relationship for approximately nine months, Casper said.
