Lufkin Police officers arrested a 40-year-old man after he allegedly pushed his parents during an argument over music Monday night.
Anthony Hill Cathcart, of Lufkin, was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony charge of assaulting an elderly or disabled person. Cathcart posted a $1,500 bail and was released later than evening.
According to the police report, the incident happened at a house in the 400 block of South Chestnut Street between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. Monday. Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said Cathcart was at his parents' house when he and his mother got into an argument about music.
Cathcart allegedly started yelling at his mother, and she called the father in to the room. Casper said Cathcart began cursing at his father and that he pushed both parents during the argument.
The charge would have been a Class C misdemeanor, but the charge was upgraded to a state-jail felony because of the parents' respective ages, Casper said. No one was injured in the accident.
Casper said Cathcart cooperated with the responding Lufkin Police officers and admitted to his role in the incident. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Angelina County jail without incident.
