NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly punched his 70-year-old father in the forehead hard enough to cause a cut during an argument over money.

Rowdy C. Duncan, 30, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on third-degree felony charge of injury to the elderly and a Class A misdemeanor charge of interfering with an emergency call. Collectively, his bail has been set at $17,500.

According to an arrest warrant, Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of County Road 735 reference to a disturbance. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man lying in the road.

The 70-year-old man was bleeding from his head and face. According to the affidavit, the victim said Duncan got angry at him over money and punched him in the forehead, causing a cut. The father told the deputies that he left the scene to get away from his son.

Later, the deputies talked to Duncan's mother, who said she saw what happened. When she ran out of the home to call 911, Duncan allegedly took her phone. Deputies found the phone lying on the bumper of a vehicle in the front yard, the affidavit stated.

Duncan was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without further incident.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
