LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested a 21-year-old woman after she allegedly slashed her father and brother with a knife after an argument got physical early Friday.
Myquisha Shanta Rhodes, of Lufkin, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No information was available on her bond amount.
Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department, said shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, Lufkin Police officers were dispatched in reference to a disturbance at a home in the 1400 block of Matthews Street. The 911 caller said that a man had been stabbed by a woman that was still on scene.
When LPD officers arrived on the scene, they found two men with cuts that didn't appear to be life threatening. The officers leaned that the two victims are father and son and Rhodes is their daughter/sister.
Casper said the brother had some friends over, and they were hanging out in the garage. He said Rhodes arrived at the house to visit her father, and her brother asked her to leave a short time afterward.
"[Rhodes] became aggressive and attempted to strike the brother," Casper said.
After the brother managed to push Rhodes away, she allegedly went inside and grabbed a knife. After she came back outside, the brother tried to calm her down and talk her into putting the knife down. However, he was unable to do so.
"The two began struggling over the knife, and the father attempted to get the knife away," Casper said.
Casper said the father and his son were finally able to wrestle the knife away from Rhodes, but they received cuts during the struggle. The brother had a cut to his forearm and hand, and the father had cuts on his hand.
EMS personnel bandaged the two victims' cuts, and neither man was transported to the hospital, Casper said.
Rhodes was arrested at the scene without further incident, and she was taken to the Angelina County Jail.
