LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Two Nacogdoches women suffered what appears to be minor injuries following a fiery two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Lufkin at the new FM 2021/US 59 intersection.

According to police, Winifred Logan, 87, was traveling southbound on FM 2021 in a Lincoln Towncar shortly before 5 p.m. and tried to cross the highway and collided with an 18 wheeler, which was northbound on US 59.

The Towncar then caught on fire, but Logan and her passenger, Wanda Schmidt, 87, were removed from the vehicle.

Logan and Schmidt were taken by ambulance to a Lufkin hospital and treated for what appeared to have been swelling and bruising.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
