NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Nacogdoches man accused of beating a dog to death with a hammer Friday afternoon.

Bob Orlan Miner, 56, is charged with state-jail felony cruelty to non-livestock animal.

According to the report, a 10-year-old boy witnessed Miner bring the dog into Miner's yard, on the 5000 block of South Street, and killing him by beating him with the hammer. The boy called 911 at 4:42 p.m.

The 10-year-old's parents owned the dog, according to the report.

Sheriff Jason Bridges said Miner killed the dog because it had mange.
