NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches Dragon football standout is doing just that- standing out.
Currently, Brandon Jones is standing out from the Class of 2016, as he is the East Texas leader in his class with the most offers.
He has already tallied up 21 offers, all while the underclassman is just wrapping up his sophomore year with the dragons.
"It's a really good feeling, and as a sophomore I'm really trying to enjoy it while I can right now before I have to lower and get down to the top 5 for next year," said Jones.
The safety says with the attention comes pressure to perform, but clearly the pressure hasn't been too much for the sophomore to handle, 21 offers later.
"I try not to let it get to me too much, but it is a lot of pressure knowing all these schools already want me at a young age," said Jones. "I just try to do what I've been doing before I got all the offers, and just let stuff happen as it happens."
The attention however is 24/7, and it makes itself apparent whether it's waking Jones up with mail on his doorstep, or coaches making their way to his games, and even practice.
"Some of them come out during spring football and checked me and Jaylon Lane out, and they said they really like the way I played and decided to offer me," said Jones.
Some of those schools Jones is talking about include Texas Tech, who has made an offer, and Stephen F. Austin; Both schools were on the sidelines for Tuesday's practice.
Although Jones isn't exactly sure where he is headed at this time, one thing is for sure. The Nacogdoches native's future looks bright, and he's got some time ahead of him to collect more offers.
Jones said he also enjoys running track and believes he will pick the school that will allow him to participate in both sports.
