LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

She might be low to the ground, but Zoey has big personality. She's a 2-year-old basset hound mix looking for a home.

"She's just a sweet gentle dog like most Basset Hounds are. Just wants to be a lap dog, I think," said Aaron Ramsey, the director of the Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter.

Zoey likes to entertain her shelter friends.

"She has a great personality. She has that typical basset hound bark. Musical. That bark that they make. So she likes to sing in her kennel back there," Ramsey said.

Zoey is sweet as can be. She just loves hanging out. She has a really calm personality and actually looks like she wants to be a lap dog.

She will be happy lounging around the house or outside all day playing.

"Basset hounds typically have slower reflexes. They're not a real agile dog, but they make up for that in their smell. Their sense of smell," said Ramsey. "But when they're outside they can run and play for hours."
