POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Livingston Police Department worked together with Liberty County Sheriff's deputies to arrest a man accused of failing to register as a sex offender late Thursday night.
Ronald Lee Pursley, 35, was arrested in LIberty County and transported back to the Polk County Jail.
The arrest occurred a day after the Livingston Police Department put the word out via a Facebook post that they were seeking the public's help in finding the man because he had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Livingston Police Department. A tipster called Polk County Crime Stoppers and reported that Pursley could be found in Liberty County.
Pursley is still being held in the Polk County Jail on two felony charges of failure to register as a sex offender. Collectively, his bail has been set at $100,000.
According to a press release, the Livingston Police Department received information that a convicted sex offender had been living at a home in Livingston without complying with Texas' sex offender registration law.
Further investigation revealed that Pursley had once been registered with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, but he had moved and failed to report his new address. The investigation continued and both agencies tried to locate Pursley.
