Nacogdoches Economic Development Corporation Chairman, David Alders, announced today that the position of President/CEO for the organization has been filled by Nacogdoches County native, Nancy C. Windham.  Ms. Windham is the current vice president of the Frisco Economic Development Corporation, a position she has held since 2008.

Mr. Alders stated, "NEDCO received considerable interest from economic development professionals across the state and nation.  The field of thirty one candidates was narrowed to four finalists, who then were interviewed by the personnel committee.  All four finalists were very capable of representing our community, but the committee felt Ms. Windham had the depth of experience and the local connections and roots that we were searching for as well as an unmatched network of contacts ranging from Texas and the Southeast and extending to national and even international economic developers and businesspeople."

Ms. Windham's work experience preceding her tenure at Frisco includes Director of Business Development for HLM Design, Associate Director of Strategic Planning for Lockwood Greene, Executive Director for the Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) and Executive Director of the Texas Industrial Development Council (now Texas Economic Development Council, TEDC).  She also worked previously with the Texas Department of Commerce and the East Texas Chamber of Commerce.  In Nacogdoches, she was employed with the Fredonia Hotel, Timberland Savings and Loan, Commercial State Bank and Nacogdoches Savings and Loan before becoming a US Army Dependent Stationed Abroad.

Nancy Windham has received numerous honors and earned several career designations, including being named one of seven Honorary Life Members of the Texas Economic Development Council, a lifetime membership in the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and, most recently, a "Fellow" in the Industrial Asset Management Council.

Nancy has two living children, Wendy, married to Dr. Aaron C. Polk, and John David, married to Tanya Sowell, and four grandsons, Zachary and Shannon Todd and Cole and Tate Windham.

Ms. Windham will assume her new role as NEDCO President/CEO by mid-July.  She will replace Judy McDonald who has been serving a second term as President/CEO since the departure of Bill King in May 2013.  Ms. McDonald had served as the President/CEO from NEDCO's inception in June 1997 until she retired in July 2008.  Alders thanked Ms. McDonald saying, "On behalf of the NEDCO Board I want to express our deep appreciation for Judy's willingness to serve our community in this role over the past year.  While we will miss her management of NEDCO, I know she will continue to serve this community as she always has, with tremendous personal warmth, passion and sound judgment.  We wish her the very best."
