GAINESVILLE, TX (KLTV) - Two people suspected of robbing hundreds of graves across East Texas were arrested on Tuesday morning in Gainesville.

Van Zandt County constables tell KLTV that Jacky Lee Brown, Jr. and his wife Ruby Brown were arrested by Precinct 4 constables at a residence in Gainesville. The couple is suspected of stealing hundreds of pounds of brass from East Texas graveyards and could be connected to similar thefts in Nacogdoches. Officials believe the two have been stealing from graveyards for more than a year and are connected to other burglaries and thefts in the area.

Officials said the Browns fled last week after learning they were suspects in the thefts. The Van Zandt County Constables Office said they received several helpful tips after KLTV shared the story last week.
