Shelby County burglary caught on camera

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a man they believe burglarized not one but two houses in broad daylight Saturday in Shelby County. Investigator DJ Dickerson with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said luckily for them, one of those burglaries was caught on surveillance camera.

"He is a white male approximately 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, clean cut, brown hair," Dickerson said.

The alleged burglar took a variety of things.

"We know of one rifle that was taken from the residence, jewelry, and other personal items like a hard drive," Dickerson said.

From the looks of the surveillance video, the burglar seemed to be taking his time and was pretty calm until he realized he was on camera.

"He took out one of the cameras and pretty much destroyed it," Dickerson said.

But he wasn't able to cover his tracks.

"The actual hard drive was hidden in the residence," Dickerson said.

He added once the alleged burglar was done, he loaded up his late 1990s Land Rover Discovery with the goods, but not before making another stop.

"Just down the road on FM 417 East not too far from this location, a residence was reported to have been burglarized too around 3:30,"Dickerson said.

If you have any information in regard to this case, Dickerson is urging you to call the Shelby County Sheriff's Office at  (936) 598-5601.
