The oldest living American celebrated a milestone birthday last week, turning 115.

Jeralean Talley, born on May 23, 1899, is the oldest person living in America. Born in Georgia during the presidency of William McKinley, she is one of the last five known people in the world born in the 1800s. She later moved to the suburbs of Detriot, Michigan, where she has lived for almost 80 years.

She lives with her daughter Thelma who is 76-years-old. Thelma said, "I'm her little girl."

When asked what's the secret to living to 115, Jeralean said, "The Lord, the father above. He's got everything up there." She's the matriarch of five living generations. Her husband passed away in 1988 at the age of 95.

Church has always been a part of Jeralean's life. The entrance road of the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church is named after her. Her pastor Dana Darby said, "God has blessed one pastor to pastor the oldest person in the United States, and that's me, and I'm grateful for that!"

Along with her faith, she credits the outdoors for keeping her inspired and active. She says she likes to go fishing, and she used to love to bowl. She said the last time she went bowling, "I was 104, and said this is my last bowling, and I bowled a 200!"

Jeralean has been honored for her amazing long life from national leaders, including President Obama, for her last birthday. Now, she is the oldest living American, and the second oldest person in the world.
