LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Following a debut at No. 47 in the Memorial Day weekend box office, a film based off a Nacogdoches author's novel has reached No. 24.
After debuting in six theaters nationwide last weekend, "Cold in July" was shown in 69 theaters this past weekend.
"Cold" brought in $124,000 over the weekend, bringing its total to $184,000.
The film is based on a novel by Nacogdoches author Joe Lansdale.
"Cold in July" is the story of an East Texas man who runs into trouble with a murderous ex-con and soon finds himself spinning in a web of lies and violence. It stars Michael C. Hall, Sam Sheppard and Don Johnson.
"Maleficent" topped the box office at $70 million.
