LUFKIN, TX (News Release) -

Crime Stoppers of Lufkin wants your help identifying two suspects in a theft investigation.

Although the case involves the theft of property with a low monetary value, property was stolen from a Lufkin-area convenient store and an employee narrowly escaped injury.

One of the suspects entered the store, collected two cases of Bud Light beer from a cooler, and then ran from the store without making payment. Once outside, the suspect dropped the beer into the bed of a truck and jumped in the passenger seat.

An employee of the store attempted to recover the beer from the truck's bed but the vehicle sped away, ripping the case from his hand and spilling cans across the parking lot.

The suspects' truck is a red, single-cab Ford Ranger with a step-side bed, and a black, plastic, double lid toolbox. The driver of the truck is not visible in the video but the passenger appears to be a white, possibly Hispanic, male with facial hair; he wore a T-shirt with the words "New York" above a logo on its front.

Under the Crime of the Week section of www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com, you can view video of this crime.

Crime Stoppers chose to profile this crime as a warning to other would-be thieves.

Punishments for such thefts can be stiff, and prior theft convictions or injury to an employee

can enhance the penalty to a Felony. If you can identify these suspects, call Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip at www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com. All calls and tips are anonymous and Crime Stoppers may pay a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest related to this crime.
