KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -

Kilgore police responded to a shooting just after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Peach Street to find that Craig Slayter, 53 of Kilgore, had fired a handgun into the pick-up truck parked in front of his home. Police say the bullet traveled through the door of the vehicle, and struck Bobby Ried, 43 of Carthage, in the leg.

Authorities say that the shooting was a result of a dispute between the two men. Slayter was arrested and booked into the Kilgore Municipal Jail, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony 2.

Ried was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center Emergency Room in Kilgore where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
