State champs!

We're so proud of our East Texas team, the Douglass Indians. Douglass definitely showed they're by far the best 1A school in the state, taking a 10-0 win today at the state tournament. Laura Sadler brings you that report at 6, and Cheyenne Simpson will show you the homecoming celebration at 10.

A three-day "Texas Roadcheck" operation by DPS is wrapping up this evening. They joined forces nationwide to target commercial vehicles and drivers. This morning, Donna McCollum observed enforcement here in East Texas and brings you that report at 6.

It has taken 70 years for one East Texan to receive an honor that he almost died fighting for. Crockett resident Leroy Bass landed on the beaches of Normandy three days after D-Day. Tomorrow, the 89-year-old will receive the French Legionaire Medal.  At 6, Caleb Beames catches up with the World War II veteran and talks to him about the honor he will be receiving on the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Also at 6, meet Sally, a playful fur ball of energy. She's the subject of this week's "Best Furry Friends."
