7 arrested, 4 wanted after illegal prescription ring bust

AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -

Seven people are behind bars and four people are wanted after an investigation revealed that they were creating fake prescriptions to get drugs, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the group printed fake prescriptions for oxycodone and hydromorphine. Investigators seized several computers, prescription paper and illegal prescriptions.

The investigation was a joint operation between the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, the Department Health & Environmental Control, the Aiken Department of Public Safety and the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.

The following seven people were arrested:

  • Amber Marissa Lowe of Warrenville, charged with one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Brittney Diane Barrett of Beech Island, charged with three counts of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Michael James Mitchell of Beech Island, charged with one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Debra Estee Boatwright of Beech Island, charged with one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Brittney Lynn Vines of North Augusta, charged with one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Jonathan David Bridges of Hephzibah, charged with one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Charlie Gene Wenner of Aiken, charged with one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud

Four other people are wanted on arrest warrants:

  • Leslie Alan Murphy of Beech Island, wanted on five counts of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • William David Paul Beasley of Bath, wanted on one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Christina Ann Lewis of North Augusta, wanted on one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud
  • Jessica Brooke Grey (Bell) of Bath, wanted on one count of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the people wanted in this case to call the sheriff's office at 803-648-6811 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
