Pickup hits AR home, driver says he was on a scavenger hunt

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) -

A Texarkana, AR homeowner escaped injury after a pickup truck crashed into her home Monday morning.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. in the 4400 block of Sanderson Lane.

Jan Benest told police she was inside her home when the pickup truck crashed into the outside wall of her house about six feet from where she was sitting.

During an interview with officer, the male driver of the pickup said he was geo-caching, a type of scavenger hunt using a GPS, and was about 150 yards away from the house.

He then said the next thing he remembered was waking up after the truck hit the house.
Paramedics treated the driver at the scene for his injuries.

Police have not said if the driver will be ticketed.
