LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Lufkin area alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority is gearing up for their Jeans-N-Bling fundraiser.

The fundraiser is to raise money for scholarships that the group hands out to area students to use for college.

The group hopes to raise $6,000 for the fund through the event.

"The event will have food and fun for all who come out," said president Sellestine Hunt.

Those attending will also have the chance to walk away with a prize.

"We have one door prize that is coming in that is a rocking chair that is unisex," Hunt said. "You can have a rocking chair to set on your front porch. We have some designer hand bags for the ladies."

The event will be June 14 at the Lufkin Convention Center in downtown. It will run from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Pre-sale tickets are $25. Tickets will cost $30 at the door. To purchase tickets, you call Sellestine Hunt at (936) 676-7047, (936) 676-7047, or Tarsha Henderson at (936) 526-3961(936) 526-3961.
