GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies confirmed a suspect has been charged after a man was found stabbed to death in a wooded area off Wade Hampton Boulevard on Monday.

Master Deputy Jonathan Smith said they received a 911 call about an assault in the area of Lincoln Road and Hawkins Drive at about 3:45 p.m. when the caller reported hearing glass breaking and then seeing a man being chased by another man with a knife.

The two ran into a wooded area, and a short time later, only one man emerged from the woods, Smith said.

Deputies arrived and found a man dead, according to Smith.

Deputies said 38-year-old Lauro Hernandez has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in the incident.

Coroner Parks Evans identified the victim as Eugenio Velasco Quintas.  Evans said the cause of death was multiple stab wounds.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
