A problem with a fiber optic cable between Grapeland and Elkhart disabled phone services for Houston County and Trinity County Wednesday morning.

Shearer said that landlines were able to call landlines and cell phones are able to call cell phones.

"The lines are only working with local calls," Shearer said Thursday morning. "Right now you can reach 911 emergency services with cell phones. If you are on a landline, you need to call the administration at 936-533-2862936-533-2862."

As of 10:25 a.m., the phone lines were working again in Houston County.
