LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 32-year-old man on a felony drug charge and seized 55 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $5,500 following a traffic stop on US 59 North Wednesday night.

Ben Gartman, of Deerpark, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a second-degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams. His bail has been set at $10,000.

According to a press release, NCSO deputies conducted a traffic stop on a silver Cadillac. Gartman, the driver of the car, allegedly kept acting very nervous and changing his story.

The press release stated the deputies became suspicious of criminal activity and got consent to search the vehicle. The NCSO deputies allegedly located a backpack containing two ounces of crystal meth in the passenger seat. A small package of meth was also found on Gartman, the press release stated.

Gartman was arrested at the scene and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
