Dempsey scores in tie against Portugal

In the 81st minute Nacogdoches native Clint Dempsey came out big for the United States as he scored the go-ahead goal against Portugal.

The United States trailed 1-0 early in the first half, but Jermaine Jones would get the equalizer in the 64th minute.

Dempsey would be the hero less than 15 minutes later when he scored off a crossed that he deflected into the back of the net with his stomach.

But in the 94th minute, Portugal scored the game-tying goal to keep the US from clinching a berth in the round of 16.
